Jacquilin
My Journey
Welcome! I’d like to thank you for taking time to visit my website. I hope the information you find and the knowledge you gain from it help you for years to come. I would like to start off by introducing myself and give you a good foundation to build a flourishing relationship with me and my businesses. My name is Jacquilin Michelle Patton but my friends and you can call me Jack. I was born and raised right here in the awe inspiring Pacific Northwest. Growing up I enjoyed all that it had to offer. From fishing with my father to the many beautiful hikes my family would go on. Some of my fondest memories were made up in the San Juan Island visiting my grandparents and hanging out with cousins. I think back to summers camping in their lawn watching shooting stars and the ever changing moon. I still to this day find my self staring up into the night sky in a state of euphoria. The universe is so greatly unknown and that I think is a magnificent thing. I was raised with a strong work ethic and a healthy respect for anyone who is willing to roll up their selves and “get their hands dirty”. My journey in the workforce has had a wide array of job titles, working with a catering company in high school, photographer for the town newspaper while I was living in Montana, Nursing Assistant and the list goes on. In 2011 I officially took on the title of manicurist and began what has been the most fulfillng journey of my life. All of these jobs no matter how different the scope of practice has been have had one thing in common. They have always given me an opportunity to work with my community and build many life long friendships. As 2019 was coming to an end I was wondering what new and exciting things 2020 had in store for me. Boy oh boy were we all in for a surprise. I had started playing with the idea of continued education and scoping out a few avenues. The number one thing I knew moving forward was, I could never see myself working in another industry. Leaving me two great options. Become a hair stylist or an esthetician. I knew already that becoming a hair stylist had never really piqued my interest. I have enjoyed over the years working at Salon Magnolia with all of our stylists, seeing the amazing work they do with routine services all the way up to complete transformations. But at the end of the day I never saw my self filling those shoes. So in January of 2020 I went on the search of an esthetics program that fit my busy life style and financial budget. I landed at the Portland Beauty School, It was affordable and allowed me to go to school on the weekends. My heart was set and so I went and signed myself up for what was about to be the most roller coast year of all of our lives. I had a start date sometime in April and was beyond excited to start this new adventure. I even told my co-workers in January “Guys I don’t know what it is but I can just feel it. This is going to be a big year!” As well all know “A big year!” Doesn’t even begin to explain the series of events that followed. I left work Friday March 13th not knowing when we would be able to work again. Not knowing if I would even be able to complete my esthetics program. And to boot having my 5th grader home from school trying to navigate “distance learning”. Days and months went by and blurred into a twilight zone of sorts. I can’t say now what I did or didn’t gain from the experience other than knowing this year will be a definitive marker years from now when stories are told about life before 2020 and what life will be then. After what felt like a year in its self things started opening back up. The salon opened its doors and welcomed all of our patiently waiting clients back with “social distanced” air hugs and eagerness to in a way,get our hands dirty. It didn’t take long to get into the groove of operating under the guidelines issued to salons and just like that everything seemed more or less normal again. At the end of August 2020 I stepped into the start of what would become my next official title esthetician. With school under way my life had become quite chaotic. If I wasn’t at work I was frantically helping my family pack and get moved. This is a story for another time but still very much a part of the journey that has brought my to the space I am in now. Over the quick 12 week course I kindled some new friendships, drank in a wealth of knowledge and conquered what I set out to do. With an immense amount of confidence I have launched a website, added yet another certification and am now the proud owner of Beauty By Freyja. Moving into 2021 and starting to welcome clients into my doors I have one simple hope. I hope that when you walk out my door, you step into the world as the most genuine form of yourself. Glowing with confidence and radiating your inner beauty outward. I look forward to many years of growing as an individual and also helping the people who enter my doors grow on their own journey. Thank you for your time and I am looking forward to meeting you.
